Self Guided Learning in Morgan Hill - CPR BLS, ACLS, and PALS Courses

Healthcare professionals in Morgan Hill face a real scheduling problem. Between shifts at Valley Health Center Morgan Hill (18550 De Paul Drive) and clinical rotations across Santa Clara County, finding time for a full classroom training day is tough. That’s where Self-Guided Learning™ courses come in.

Safety Training Seminars, located at 17760 Monterey Rd Suite C-3 in Morgan Hill—just off Highway 101 near Downtown Morgan Hill and Cochrane Road—offers American Heart Association® BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses through the CPR Verification Station™ learning center model. You complete the cognitive portion on your own schedule, then visit the center for a self-guided skills session. No fixed class times. No group schedules.

Self-Guided Learning in Morgan Hill

What Are Self-Guided Learning Courses?

Self-Guided Learning™ courses combine two independent components:

  1. Online cognitive learning — completed at your own pace on any compatible device
  2. A self-guided skills session — completed at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center

Both components are completed independently. Upon successful completion of both, learners receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. The eCard is accepted by hospitals, clinics, dental offices, and employers across Santa Clara County and nationwide.

This approach follows the HeartCode® Complete course format—an American Heart Association Self-Guided Learning course pathway designed for initial and renewal learners alike.*

HeartCode® is a trademark of the American Heart Association.

How the Online Learning Works

The cognitive portion uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. The system continuously evaluates your existing knowledge and confidence in real time. Content adjusts dynamically to target your specific knowledge gaps—so experienced providers skip content they already know, and newer learners get targeted feedback exactly where they need it.

Key features of the online learning activity:

  • Accessible on any compatible device (desktop, laptop, or tablet)
  • Scenario and algorithm-based content that mirrors real clinical decisions
  • Interactive patient care scenarios with immediate, targeted feedback
  • Mobile-responsive design for learning between shifts or during breaks

The online learning activity must be completed before the hands-on skills session. Completing the online portion alone does not result in an AHA Course Completion eCard.

How the Self-Guided Skills Session Works

After completing the online learning, you schedule your skills session at the CPR Verification Station learning center at Safety Training Seminars in Morgan Hill.

During the session, you perform required skills independently. The CPR Verification Station learning center provides:

  • Real-time, objective performance feedback on compression depth, rate, recoil, and ventilation
  • Objective measurement against AHA guidelines using simulation technology
  • The ability to repeat practice as needed until a passing score is achieved

No live instructor coaches or evaluates you during this session. The station measures performance objectively and consistently—eliminating variability between instructors and giving every learner a standardized skills verification experience.

BLS skills sessions take approximately 30 minutes. ACLS and PALS skills sessions each take approximately 30 minutes as well, following 2–3 hours of online learning.

Who Should Use Self-Guided Learning Courses?

Self-Guided Learning courses work well for:

  • Nurses, physicians, EMTs, and paramedics who serve facilities like St. Louise Regional Hospital in nearby Gilroy or Valley Health Center Morgan Hill
  • Healthcare students in clinical rotations across Santa Clara County
  • Dental professionals and allied healthcare workers in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and San Martin
  • Prehospital service providers with irregular shift schedules
  • Initial or renewal learners who require an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard
